About the event
Gel plate printing is an amazing printing technique, with only a few tools and a little paint one can achieve striking results on a variety of papers (very fine tissue paper, smooth heavier paper, old book pages, non-glossy magazines, and fabric are all suitable to be printed on) with handcut stencils from photos, found textures, image transfers, all helping to create very individual pieces of art.
What to expect from the 2-day workshop:
Day One: Introduction to the application of paint, how to pull the print, how to play with textures and stencils.
Make as many prints as you like, and with different backgrounds, textures and colours create your own print collection with the following day in mind.
Day Two: Use your prints to make cards, little books, mobiles, etc. (all of which make excellent unique gifts!)
What to bring:
Feel free to bring paper (~110g is suitable for most prints), acrylic paint and any paint rollers you might have. Previously painted or printed paper, and an old book. Lead pencil, coloured pencils, scissors, glue stick; felt pens, gel pens can be helpful later on for finishing touches.
It is not a messy technique but wearing old clothes might be a good idea.
BYO lunch and drinks - a kettle is available for hot drinks.
Some resources will be provided!
