About the event

"The world around us is sound. "

Suena Oro, a reo Māori/Spanish language fusion band, will guide you on a journey of discovering this sound. Together we will explore gathered found-sound instruments - instruments which can be found around us - and make music with them. We will take an ao Māori perspective as the foundation - acknowledging the whakapapa and stories behind the natural instruments -  but will also branch out into diverse areas of sound exploration. Come join Suena Oro ahead of their performance shortly after this workshop.  https://www.gbarts.org.nz/event-details/suena-oro-between-our-maori-and-spanish-worlds

Sueno Oro are:

  • Alvaro Moreno - nylon guitar, synthesiser, taonga pūoro and vocals.

  • Chris Hoolihan - drums

  • Ari Thompson - bass
